Life Leap is Mentoring new Independent Facilitators!

Rhiannon Morsch is Recruiting Independent Facilitators (IFs) to serve Redwood Coast Regional Center clients.

She will be providng direct mentorship to help potential IFs learn the ropes and set up their business. 

WHERE 

Rhiannon is seeking potential IFs who live in the Redwood Coast Regional Center catchment area (Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino Counties).

Interested individuals that are not living in these counties may be considered, especially if they live near to these counties. Most IF work can be done virtually. 

Rhiannon is especially looking to recruit new IFs from hard to reach/ underserved and very rural areas. This includes potential IFs who are bilingual. There is also a hope to recruit new IFs from Indigenous/ tribal communities. 

WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT FACILITATOR?

An Independent Facilitator (IF) assists client’s of California Regional Centered to enroll in the Self-Determination Program. The IF first assists the client in creating a Person Centered Plan, then they support the client to enroll in the program, which can take up 6 months. 

The IF is paid by the Regional Center. The IF must be vendored with Redwood Coast Regional Center to be paid for services. Rhiannon will help her mentees with this process. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in Disability Services is a huge plus but not required. Direct experience may come from having a child, or family member, that you have supported to access disability services. 

Strong administrative skills are necessary for this job. You should have good writing skills, be organized, enjoy computer/admin work and enjoy working with people. 

You should have experience with Email, Adobe, Sign Now, Microsoft Word, and Excel. If you do not have experience with these systems, you should be willing to learn and enjoy working with these systems. 

You should be self motivated and be able to start-up and run your own business. 

TRAINING

To be vendored as an IF, you must receive a certificate of training. There is an online program of pre-recorded videos offered by The Independent Facilitator Training Academy taught by Rosie Lasco. The course costs $424.00. 

You must also have some training in Person Centered Planning. There are some free courses offered online  that Rhiannon can connect you to.
