Personal Assistant/Caregiver to 10yr old child with Special Needs in San Anselmo, CA
Pay Rate: $35 per hour
Start Date: 5/1/25
Weekly Hours:
School year: Mornings and Afternoons (Monday through Friday 650am-810am* plus Tuesdays 240-640pm, Wednesday 1240-640pm, Thursdays 240-540pm, Friday 4-830pm) + one weekend day (approximately 7am-1pm). (*note that during summer, the morning time will be slightly longer, 650am-840am to accommodate a later start time for summer camp)
During school breaks/holidays (Winter break, President’s Day week, Spring Break, etc..), the hours will be extended (Monday through Friday 7am-3pm), if the employee is available
ABOUT THE CLIENT:
A. is a sweet, active boy with a great sense of humor who loves to play, talk, and engage with others. Due to developmental delays (A. is diagnosed with developmental coordination disorder and global apraxia) he needs extra support in the home with daily living tasks and one-to-one support to encourage independence, verbal communication, and safety. With a clear routine and support, Alex is thriving, talking more and more, and gaining confidence every day.
DUTIES:
In search of an Employee to support A. to prepare for school in the morning before his school car service picks him up at 810 am during the school year. The employee will return after school to support A. in the home and community after school.
Specific duties include:
Companionship (A. likes to do puzzles, legos, anything related to cars, read books, walk/hike, and play outside)
Support with basic meal prep
Support with dressing for school
Support with toileting, teeth brushing, and bath/shower
Transportation to after-school classes, parks, or other activities
Be aware of safety at all times
Encourage and gently facilitate play with peers when in the community
Offer help, but also support and encourage the development of A.’s independence!
EMPLOYEE SKILLS/BACKGROUND:
Experience with children and/or children with special needs is preferred. Please have your own car and a valid driver’s license.
ABOUT THE HIRING PROCESS:
You will be hired through an agency (It is not a Respite or IHSS agency). The agency is a 3rd party Financial Management Service that pays for services for individuals with disabilities.
It is not difficult to complete the hiring paperwork and is similar to being hired at any other caregiver type job (ie. Filling out a W4, background check etc..). You will need to complete a fingerprint Live Scan to be hired. There are benefits such as accrual of sick time and overtime rates.
You will be paid for your time in completing these extra steps to be hired, once officially hired.
You will be paid bi-weekly. You will have the option to be paid via direct deposit or check in the mail.
